Garden City, NY (November 10 , 2025) – PSEG Long Island has been named an official partner of Section VIII of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association. The partnership will highlight PSEG Long Island’s commitment to the communities in which it serves through a Field Goals for Food campaign during the Section VIII Football Championships presented by Northwell Orthopedics. For each field goal made during the semifinal games, PSEG Long Island will donate 100 meals to Island Harvest Food Bank. For each field goal made during the championships, PSEG Long Island will donate 500 meals.  PSEG Long Island is also encouraging fans attending the games to donate to the cause by bringing a can of food to the game.

“We are charged up to cheer on the young athletes during the Long Island football semifinals and championship high school football games, and we’re energized to bring a bit of goodwill to these exciting contests on the gridiron this year,” said David Lyons, PSEG Long Island interim president and COO. “This partnership with Section VIII of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association aims to increase awareness about hunger across Long Island and inspire the athletes to kick lots of field goals. Along with our commitment to provide Long Island with safe and reliable power, this is another way PSEG Long Island is supporting the communities where we live, work and play… football.”

Patrick Pizzarelli, Section VIII Athletics Executive Director, says: “We are excited to welcome PSEG Long Island as a partner of Section VIII. They are neighbors helping neighbors and they are showcasing that through the Field Goals for Food at this year’s Nassau County Football Championships.”

PSEG Long Island has a longstanding tradition of supporting its neighbors through its robust Community Partnership Program, including sponsoring food collection events for Island Harvest Food Bank. PSEG Long Island also assists its customers through its energy efficiency programs and rebates, free home energy assessments and by providing tips to help them save energy and money.

About the Section VIII Athletics
Established in 1929, Section VIII is one of the eleven sections of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA). It is made up of 60-member high schools from Nassau County, NY. A member of the National Federation of State High School Associations, Section VIII Athletics conducts tournaments and crowns boys and girls champions in 33 sports.
